in history. host:next is ann, a president obama supporter. caller: good morning. i think exactly the opposite. i think mitt romney looked almost manic and his appearance. i have never seen him flailing his arms around. he told so many lies. he completely turned around all of the things he has been running on the for the past 18 months. he even through the tax policy away. he just changed everything. it was really unbelievable. i think many people looked at him being more aggressive. that is what they were rewarding. once people started paying attention to exactly why he said, they would see that his -- that he told so many lies and distorted what he was trying to say. i think the president look very presidential. he was not aggressive. he explained exactly what he wanted to say. i thought the whole purpose of the debate was for each one to explain what their policy was. romney just completely changed. that is what was so -- i guess it is not so surprising, because that is what he has done is flip-floping. i hope the president would get an ad out or they show what he has been saying and what h

first caller. caller: good morning. obama and biden are cutting the military and they don't even say much about it on the news. things will be cut, especially in the navy. there are many people in afghanistan and they will go out with no retirement. as far as romney, i'm not happy with him either. host: our next call is kevin on the line from the democrats. caller: my view on paul ryan is that his health-care plan, the vouchers, it allows an increase based on inflation. in the last 10 years the cost of health care has gone up 11% per year. so it would be up to the individual voucher holder to pay the difference. this has had a tremendous impact on the votes of older people. recent polls show older people are leaving the republican party because of the direct impact of paul ryan as being chosen as vice president. host: let's hear from john in pennsylvania on the independent line. good morning. will the vice-presidential candidates impact your vote? are you there? let's try missoni in fort worth, texas. -- tony in fort worth, on the democratic line. caller: yes, i think it will impact

of the things i have heard people say this morning are correct. but i strongly believe that the reason we are in a downsized economy and situation now is because that has been the deliberate aim of the republican congress to prevent president obama from winning a second term. they admit that. there is another reason why they have projected for 2013 and beyond is downsized. that is because each of the members of the budget committee has signed that pledge of grover norquist to not under any circumstances increase or began a tax of any amount. the hands of congress are tied by that. host: what about your personal situation? of you changed your idea of the american dream? caller: i see it changing all around me. it has not affected me all that much because i am retired. host: thomas rights and that has a different perspective. we are looking at another tweet. the allstate national journal heartland monitor poll asked, what are signs of getting ahead? being free of debt is a sign of getting ahead. it also said being able to save it for a comfortable and secure retirement. having a secure job

obama -- i do not think he did as badly as the pundits are saying this morning. i think the next debates, he will probably have a different demeanor. i think the debate last night was much more important to miss -- to mitt romney and barack obama. i do not know how much this really changes the landscape, because this race is very competitive. if you look at the eight battleground states, depending on the polls, president obama is winning on all of them, but the margins are pretty close. i think the other thing that debates could do for the democrats and the president and also for the voters, for our side, too, it signals the date is on, and you will see much more enthusiasm. people talk about the enthusiasm gap. a firm that does the polling for nbc news, within one sub group, latinos -- of au are the conspiratoria left-wing appalling -- >> barack obama had 50% with latinos, the poll is their enthusiasm was less than in 2008. >> glen, my thinking had been while it was inadequate -- mathematically possible for romney to get to 270 electoral votes without ohio, michigan, pennsylvania, that
